China disasters: Typhoon, flood and tornado

Typhoon No. 6, “Mekkhala“, of 2020 intensified into a tropical storm on August 10, and quickly approached the coast of Fujian Province. In the evening of August 10th to August 11th, the territory of Ya'an City, Sichuan Province was hit by a heavy rainstorm. The Qingyi River experienced floods exceeding the highest water levels in history. A video posted by netizens shows that the extremely heavy rain caused the water levels of the Qing Yi River to soar and the city of Ya'an was so waterlogged that almost all roads turned into rivers, cars were flooded and houses were submerged in a sea of water. The huge yellow waves of the Qing Yi River were terrifying. Many villages and towns were swept away by the floodwaters. Many houses were washed away and roads were destroyed by the floods. At around 15:30 on the afternoon of August 9, a tornado hit the town of Hiramuren in Damaoqi, Inner Mongolia. About 150 yurts were destroyed by the winds and 33 people were injured. © All Rights Rese
