Hi, this is our last walking for the year 2023. We wish everyone of you a sparkling new year. This video was shot in Alappuzha District in Kerala, in the first week of December month this year. I have always wanted to shoot a rain walk in the diverse geography of Alappuzha. Alappuzha, also known as Alleppey, is a district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is located in the southern part of India and is known for its immense natural beauty. The district is embraced by the Arabian Sea in the west and a network of lakes, lagoons, and freshwater rivers criss-crossing it, making it a backwater country. The district is also home to a vibrant animal and avian life. The rainy season in Alappuzha is from June to September, and the district receives an average rainfall of 2763 mm . The gentle rain in the video adds to the beauty of the place and makes it a perfect destination for a relaxing village paths of Alappuzha are a sight to behold. The district is known for its lush paddy fields and is referred to as the “Rice Bowl of Kerala” . The Kuttanad region of the district, which lies below sea level, is one of the few places in the world where farming is done below sea level . The region is also known for its coir factories . The district is home to the longest lake in the Indian peninsula, the Vembanad lake, which lies below sea level . The lake is a popular tourist destination and is well connected to other parts of Kerala, including the tourist destination of Kumarakom . The rainy season in India usually starts in late May and lasts until September. In June, the showers are at full swing, and cities are literally drowning due to the amount of rainfall. Showers usually occur in the evening or night and might last for a couple of hours. The monsoon winds that bring the rain cover the entire country by the first week of July 1. The southern part of the country receives more precipitation than the northern part, but territories receive up to 80% of their annual amount of precipitation during the rainy season Walking through the village paths of Alappuzha on a gentle rainy day is a relaxing and rejuvenating experience.
