With a focus on marketing and recruitment, Part 2 of our entrepreneurship series discusses the challenges of attracting students, clients, and customers in the global English marketplace. You will learn how to use your existing English language teaching skills to create products and services that your customers will value, design content that reaches your target audiences, use promotional channels effectively, and more. Guest speaker: English Language Specialist Anne Crutchfield. She earned a PhD in Education and an MA in Second Language Studies from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa and has a background in teaching academic English to international college students in Germany, Hawaii, and California. In 2019, Anne started a private tutoring “side-hustle” that has grown into an e-commerce and edu-blogging business. She is excited to share her own story of how she became a “teacher-preneur” as a case study, and to discuss the opportunities and challenges of marketing and recruiting in the global English marketplace--with a special focus on social media. Her tip for other educators interested in entrepreneurship is: creativity consistency collaboration = community. In her webinar, she explains this formula and shares more lessons that she has learned as an English teacher-turned-business owner.
