Ukraine’s military intelligence agency claimed involvement in an ambush that killed Wagner fighters in Mali, far from the Ukrainian frontline. Andrii Yusov, spokesman for Ukraine’s GUR military intelligence agency, said on July 29 that “the rebels received necessary information.” According to Yusov the information enabled a successful military operation “against Russian war criminals.” A Telegram channel linked to the Wagner leadership admitted the group had suffered heavy losses during fighting in Mali on July 29.
