One winter day in the Tarutino steppe

Winter covered the steppe with snow, from under which the Kulans search for food. European fallow deer males with huge horns, broken here and there after the autumn rutting season, walk leisurely through the steppe. A group of females has run away, some of them will give birth to babies in a few months. Steppe marmots and hamsters sleep in their dens until spring arrives. Soon it will bring warmth and food to the animals. In winter, life in the steppe freezes but does not stop. The green tourism center “Frumushyka-Nova“ on the outskirts of the steppe is also empty and deserted in anticipation of spring. Only shepherds take care of sheep and their young.
