Police detained supporters of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny during an unsanctioned rally in St. Petersburg on Monday. Several protesters had gathered outside the Gostiny Dvor department store with some being detained shortly after the police warned them against the unsanctioned gathering. The local law enforcement agencies haven’t yet disclosed the exact number of detained Navalny’s supporters. According to the decree of the city authorities, as well as Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, protests and pickets are prohibited due to the epidemiological situation in St. Petersburg.
