Nocturno Op. 24 No. 8. (arr. Jussi-Matti Haavisto), originally composed for piano by Jean Sibelius, was filmed in the freezing landscapes of Eastern Finland in February 2016, on the ice of Lake Pielinen, and near the Tulikivi Stone Center quarries in Juuka. A part of the video was filmed at Ainola, where the composer master himself used to live. The video was directed, filmed, and written by Aira Vehaskari who now operates in New Orleans. The Nocturno music video will be a part of cellist Jussi Makkonen’s and pianist Nazig Azezian’s Sibelius Inspiration multimedia concert, the world premiere of which was performed at the Orpheum Theatre in New Orleans on 27th September 2015. The Sibelius Inspiration multimedia concert enables the audience to experience Sibelius’s world through music, videos filmed for the concert, and lighting.
