The bandura is the musical symbol of the Ukrainian nation, and bandura ensembles are a unique phenomenon of Ukrainian musical art. The bandura ensemble “Charivnytsi” (‘The Charmers’) of Dnipropetrovsk Academy of Music is a bright, unique and at the same time typical representative of Ukrainian bandura art. The bandura art of Ukraine for five centuries and the ensemble “Charivnytsi” for more than half a century have been carrying out the continuous reproduction and reinterpretation of the pattern of values, symbols, memories, myths, and traditions of Ukrainians. The modern repertoire of the “Charivnytsi” ensemble consists of Ukrainian folk songs, pieces of Ukrainian composers, pieces of regional composers, pieces of foreign composers.
