This cut from an “Evening Kvartal” episode from December 31, 2009, parts of which you may have seen before, is about Viktor Yushchenko, Ukraine’s 3rd president (from 2005 to 2010), returning Ukraine back to the people. This is a play on words, as Vladimir Zelensky, playing president Yuschenko, brings an actual bicycle called “Ukraine” with him on stage. Such bicycles were made in the USSR and were very popular. “Kvartal 95 Studio“ is a comedy production company founded by Vladimir Zelensky in 2003 after his TV career was launched on the Soviet/Russian comedy TV show “KVN”. Besides the “Evening Kvartal”, the company produced, among others, the famous “Servant of the People” series, in which Vladimir Zelensky played a school teacher who became president of Ukraine.
