Málaga is located in Andalucía, south of Spain. It is also known as “the capital of the Costa del Sol.“ An estimate of six million tourists visit the city every year to enjoy the climate, the sea and its beaches. Málaga is also the largest and most populated coastal city in southern Spain. This beautiful city has two thousand-eight hundred years of history and considered as one of the oldest cities in Europe. A walk by the old town is a must! Málaga experienced the greatest civilizations of the Mediterranean, from the Phoenicians and the Greeks to the Romans, due to its strategic location of the port, a significant area along the trade routes since the ancient times. The city center of Málaga is a place where you can see lots of interesting places. Málaga is rich in culture, modernity and historical monuments. Its history dates back to the Phoenician times, and later passed onto the Romans and Arabs who left part of their culture and constructions. The capital of the Costal del Sol, Málaga was in the end conquered by the Catholic Kings in the year 1487, leaving an incomplete cathedral due to the lack of funds back then, known as “La Manquita.“ The are also a numerous monuments to visit, including the Alcazaba Arabic Castle and the Gibralfaro castle. Pablo Picasso was also born in the city of Málaga, the Plaza where he used to play as a child still exists today, as well as his house which is now a museum that is accessible today for everyone. The Calle Larios offers a mixture of well-known chain stores and boutiques for shopping, and cafetería's and ice cream parlors as well. Through its streets you can find more shops and restaurants and bars. Málaga has also some of the best tapas bars in the country. Much of which is fish and shellfish due to its Mediterranean location. At the center of the town, a wide range mix of restaurants, from traditional Spanish and seafood, to Moroccan, South American, and Asian cuisines respectively.
