“You must be ready to burn yourself in your own flame; how could you rise anew if you have not first become ashes?“ - Nietzsche Death and renewal are integral to the creative process. What is art if it is not the continual process of losing an idea, to an adventure, to pushing past what we think we know, in order to find oneself anew? Oftentimes the sweetest music is born from the pain of transformation. Here's a vignette of some my recent activities in the studio. During the summer months of 2019 I completed five new paintings - four them for exhibitions in Los Angeles, at my gallery, Arcadia Contemporary. Many of you have been asking for more tutorial type videos. I'm trying to figure out how best to approach such a thing. Until then, these small promo videos are the best I can do to give you at least some glimpse into my studio. Also, my wife Candice Bohannon and I just started doing workshops, so if you're interested in taking one, please email me at “JulioRstudio@“ and I'll send you the dates for those. Thank you for your support! All paintings featured are original egg tempera paintings completed during the summer months of 2019.
