Cardiff City FC can confirm that Peter Whittingham has today signed for League One side Blackburn Rovers. The thirty-two year old has agreed to join Rovers on a two-year deal. Whitts first joined Cardiff City from Aston Villa on 11th January 2007, aged twenty-two. Over a decade of service to the Club followed, during which time City moved home from Ninian Park to Cardiff City Stadium, contested Wembley finals and reached the Premier League. In total, the talismanic midfielder made four hundred and fifty-seven appearances in the City shirt, scoring ninety-six goals and assisting ninety-one. An iconic figure in Bluebirds history, we’d like to wish Whitts all the very best for the future. Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock placed on record his admiration for our long-time no.7, saying: “As a manager, I often see players kiss the badge and move on swiftly afterwards. In Peter, Cardiff City have had a fantastic servant who has been loyal to the Club through ups and downs. Quite rightly, he is adored by Cardiff City supporters. “Peter loves playing football and he knows he will play regular football at Blackburn Rovers. As a person, he was one of the best professionals I’ve managed and we all wish him well.” Discussions are taking place currently between the Club & Peter’s representatives regarding a potential testimonial fixture. Further details of this will follow in due course. #ThankYouPW7 Watch more on iFollow Cardiff City - SUBSCRIBE - LIKE - this video and leave a comment.
