Liorah's paintings, monotypes and etchings explore themes of girlhood, belonging, and the theatrical, and are informed by a legacy of Yiddish theatre and literature. A selection of her works is currently on show at Marlborough’s exhibition ‘Face to Face: A Celebration of Portraiture’. Liorah spoke to us about her approach to portraiture and how this has been influenced by artists from Marlborough’s historic roster, such as Frank Auerbach, Francis Bacon and R.B. Kitaj. “I like to think of artists like relay runners, like your practice is the batton. And you are passed the batton by great artists, by looking at their pictures. And then you run with it, with as much power and strength that you can.” – Liorah Tchiprout Video by Jonny Guardiani
