I recently acquired a 2013 Epiphone LP standard just for the fun of it and because I would like to own a goldtop without paying so much for a Gibson. I may indeed buy a Gibson goldtop in the future but for now, the Epiphone plays and sounds great. Although there were some spots that still had orange peel (not really sure why a factory guitar would have orange peel), the overall quality is superb considering the price that you pay. The pickups are of quality and sound very sweet. I think they are moderate output Alnico 5s.
