It's just men because as men, we warn our girlfriends, wives and daughters about men generally. We don't warn them that only specific men will spike their drinks. We don't warn them that only specific men will dance too close and try to take advantage. We don't warn them only specific men won't take no for an answer. We warn them about men, generally, because we recognize, understand and agree women's fear of men generally is valid and shared by men as well. Only when we ask that to turn inward and for men to personally reflect on how they may perpetuate or enable these behaviors do we make excuses. We must do better and learn to not avoid such work just because the conclusions might frighten us.
