An explosion at a coal terminal at the CSX Curtis Bay Coal Plant shook the city of Baltimore shortly before midday, at 11:30 am local time (16:30 GMT) on Thursday. The blast hit a five-storey building in the South Baltimore industrial area sending shockwaves through the city, shattering windows at nearby houses. “When the explosion went off, I was standing in the kitchen with a cup of coffee and all the glass came by me,” said Resident Denis Bright who lives close to the plant.
