At least four people have been killed after powerful thunderstorms battered Houston and left nearly a million homes without power. The Houston mayor’s office said on Friday that four people had died following severe storms that blew out windows in high-rise buildings, downed trees and knocked out power to nearly 900,000 homes and businesses. At least two of the deaths were caused by falling trees, and another happened when a crane blew over in strong winds, officials said. Flash flood and severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for multiple counties, with damaging winds and even tornadoes possible into the evening, said Houston’s National Weather Service office.
