Martha is a 68 year old woman who is still working in construction. The daily work of Martha is shown, the mountains of rubble in a wintry landscape, the endlessly running belt on which she sorts the incoming rubble, freezing and impatient. These are Martha’s last working days. After her farewell, when she is left alone in the construction site, she tells of her life, of bombed-out Berlin, of her brave children, of her work as a woman in ruins.
