We’ve always assumed that the inscriptions on the Dome of the Rock, created in 691 AD all referred to Muhammad, and that it was here that the ’Shahada’ was first introduced by Abd al-Malik. But Mel (from Sneaker’s Corner) and Murad (from the Middle East) choose to disagree.
