Last Saturday I went to Engadin Airport, in Switzerland near St. Moritz, to attend the Kilomètre Lancé 2022, a revival event of the original competition held in 1929 and 1930 as the starting event of the International St. Moritz Automobile Week. This week consisted of a rally, the kilometer race, a skill race, a concours d'elegance and the Bernina hillclimb race. For the second one, the dead-straight section of road between Samedan and Punt Muragl was the first asphalted road in Engadine and the venue for this spectacular race, in which the only thing that mattered was the maximum speed that could be achieved. Of course nowdays these kind of sprint competitions are no longer held on public roads.
