The Lake Fire in Santa Barbara County churns through thousands more acres overnight devouring everything in its path. At least 5,000 acres have burned as of 11pm Friday night. A brush fire that erupted in Santa Barbara County sent up towering columns of smoke over Los Padres National Forest land Friday afternoon and overnight, The blaze had exploded to an estimated 4,673 acres before 11 p.m. The Lake Fire was reported shortly before 4 p.m. in rugged terrain near Zaca Lake, according to Santa Barbara County Fire Department reports. Flames from the Lake Fire, near Zaca Lake in Santa Barbara County, are visible in a PG&E camera as the blaze grew to nearly 5,000 acres late Friday night. Size estimates grew from about 500 acres before nightfall to nearly 5,000 a few hours later, according to Cal Fire.
