An introduction to Regenerative Agroforestry Systems and one of our projects at Dalziel food-forest in the Sierra Nevada mountains in Southern Spain. Take a look around at what we have achieved with teacher, Ras John from SuperNatural Permaculture Association. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is our very first video that we have ever put together! So please forgive us for the mistakes and imperfections. I and the people that I work with are not experts, we are only humble students. For example at I call Rhizobium a type of fungus, but actually it is a bacteria! At we have some background interference with the audio. At we can see Laura, who is not only the project founder, but also the person who has planted the majority of the trees in the system. When Laura is in the shot we can see bare naked earth! And that's because Laura is weeding out the 'Couch grass', before we plant a new line of trees, plant Sorghum grass in the pathways and then cover everything with mulch again! Some people may find it unbelievable that trees can grow this quick, but don't let me mislead you! As some trees were planted from seed, some were planted from cuttings and others were established young saplings in pots. For example we planted 5cm tall Paulownia cuttings in April '22 and six months later in September '22 they were 5 meters tall! We also planted 1 meter tall Moringa cuttings at the same time, and six months later they were 6 meters tall! The one thing that we forgot to include in this video is a introduction to the 'Art of Succession'. But, IN FUTURE VIDEOS we will look in great detail how we put this forest system together, and then how we manage it at different stages of its life. Our goal is to inspire YOU to give it a go yourself wherever you may be in the world! We have been offering unique residential permaculture courses, internships, garden tours and volunteering placements for over ten years, so get in touch if you are interested in taking part somehow!
