UNHCR increases assistance to Lebanon, calls for end to airstrikes - statement The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said Monday that it has stepped up its assistance to Lebanon and called for an end to airstrikes, without referring to Israel by name. “The devastating bombings in Lebanon are costing innocent lives and forcing thousands of people to flee. This has to stop. UNHCR has a long-standing presence in Lebanon, providing support to refugees & host communities.
