Sigue Sigue Sputnik - Is This the Future (from unreleased Dress for Excess remix album)

When Dress for Excess was released in December 1988, announcments in the music press promised that a remix album would follow in due course with every song remixed. Perhaps due to sales figures, this remix album was never released. However, back in 1988 I had a contact in EMI who provided me with a couple of promo casettes including one titled “Dress For Excess 12inch mixes “. Yes, it was dated four months before the album was actually released. The tape had a different song order to the actual album and two of the songs were still listed by earlier titles. Success was called Sexcess and Albinoni vs Star Wars was called Elvis vs IBM. Some of the mixes sound unfinished, particuarly Elvis vs IBM and there was no artwork at all, just a typed-up list of tracks. I played this tape to death, more than I played the actual album! As a consequence, the tape started to wear a bit thin and that slightly affects the sound in a couple of places.
