7th session of World Weightlifting Championships 1990 (Budapest, Hungary). In the 90kg's category we can see Khrapaty's triumph; the king of 90kg cat is still Anatoly, he won not just only total but also in snatch and clean&jerk. His main rivals were european & wolrd bornze & silver medalis bulgarian Chakarov and Asian Games winner korean Kim Byung-chan. Khrapaty was unbeatable by 5 years at that time, he won all World and European championships since 1985. Usually he had a few kg behind the snatch session winner, but he always won with his unique clean&jerk performance. But this time, he won snatch with 2,5kg gap as a surprise, so the competition is “ended up“ right there. The only question left was who will become silver & bronze medalist. In the jerk Khrapaty made 217,5kg with his 2nd attempt, Chakarov came with 220kg, but he failed it. Anatoly went to his third attempt as a world champion, he jumped under the bar, but didn't stand up, make a smile on his face and drop the wieght. He was already world champion... After competition interviews: Gold medalist - Anatoly Khrapaty (URS, 27 yo.): “I came for the victory to Budapest and I did it. I'm unbeaten by 5 years and it's a huge feeling. I would like to hold this at least until Barcelona 92'. Only two men could stop me in this, but they didn't do it today. I made a promise to myself; I stop smoking after my 5th world champion title...“ Silver medalist - Ivan Chakarov (BUL, 24 yo.): “I had a little issue with time at my third c&j attempt and I became nervous. If I had enought time, I'm sure I can do it. Smoking (cigarette) calms me, and in other hand; it doesn't have effect to my results.“ Bronze medalist - Kim Byung-chan (KOR, 20 yo.): “Well, it could had seen my 3rd snatch was so easy. But appearances are deceptive.“ /Hungarian dub. All videos will be between 35-45 min./ Watch it & enjoy! Competitors: 1.
