This wound of first against a third could happen this way. Both fencers are in third guard outside and lock their swords together, each forcefully pushing with his blade against the other’s. Our fencer suddenly turns his hand in first - a position that makes the sword point naturally downward and that is stronger on the underside. As he lifts his hand, the opponent’s sword remains underneath (i.e. on the strongest side of the first guard). While lifting his hand as described, our fencer also gets closer to the opponent’s debole and in one motion pushes forward and wounds him as seen in the picture. -Salvator Fabris (Translated by Tom Leoni)
