Giorgio worked on Donna Summer's 1977 opus “I Remember Yesterday“ and previewed the future of dance music with her epic version of “I Feel Love“. He was also working on his own album at the same time using the same type of electronic arrangement to dazzle and excite the senses and a month later released the epochal “From Here To Eternity“, an electronic dance fantasy that approached the sound of science fiction. While neither single hit #1 disco, “I Feel Love“ peaked at #3 and “From Here To Eternity“ peaked at #2 the impact of these two productions on dance music is undeniable. His project layered the electronic pulses of sound and whipped them up into a frenetic high powered disco sound that set the standard for the genre. He had been experimenting for years, starting with 1969's “That's Bubble Gum, That's Giorgio“. In 1972 he composed his first US pop hit, “Son Of My Father“ released one week ahead of the cover version by Chicory Tip and Giorgio ended up with at #46 pop hit. Much has been documented about his work alone and with Donna with the consensus that he single handedly thrust us into the world of Electronic Dance Music or EDM for short. “From Here To Eternity“ suite took up the first side of the album and included three other short songs before the reprise version of the title returns to close out the song. Here I have excised those songs and what you have here is a 16 minute version in its electronic glory. Back in college, I made a friend named Brenda P who reminded me of Grace Slick, she was a rock and roller but she appreciated “From Here To Eternity“ and told me that it was a great song to go crazy on with roller skates.
