What started as Captain Ibrahim Traore's distant dream, is slowly turning into reality, as Russia shows more interest to help Bukinafaso become the first landlocked country in Africa, to have a nuclear power plant. We say this because, eight months after the youthful military leader requesting Vladimir Putin, during the Russia-Africa summit in St Petersburg, in July 2023, to help him set up a nuclear power plant in Bukinafaso, as the only solution to address the rising demand for electricity, the two countries have started laying the necessary foundations for that plant to be set up.
