First US-Made ATACMS Missiles Struck Russian Bryansk Region On November 19th, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation confirmed the strikes of ATACMS tactical missiles on Russian territory. The US-made missiles targeted the border Bryansk region. The strikes with Western missiles were first reported by unofficial sources. Ukrainian military sources showed their launch from HIMARS MLRS. The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the attack. According to the official report, in total six ATACMS missiles were launched at a.m. tonight. The Russian S-400 air defense system and the Pantsir missile defense system shot down five of them, one was damaged. The fallen debris caused a fire on the territory of a military facility. There are no casualties or damage. The target of the attack was reportedly the ammo arsenal of the Russian Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate near Karachev in the Bryansk region. The missiles were reportedly equipped with cluster warheads. Videos shared online reportedly showed an explosion on the Russian territory. The satellite imagery is likely to reveal the results of the strike soon. The first launches of ATACMS missiles in Russia were aimed at their targets identified by NATO and Israeli satellites, guided by NATO long-range detection and control aircraft operating in the Black Sea and approved by the Pentagon. Most likely the launches were also carried out by US officers who are operating on the ground. The US-made missiles were launched immediately after outgoing U.S. President Biden had authorized the Ukrainian military to strike deep into Russian territory with American long-range missiles. Moscow warned that the use of the Western long-range weapons against the Russian Federation would mean NATO’s participation in the conflict. Moreover, on November 19th, Russian President Putin signed the updated Nuclear Doctrine, providing for the possibility of using nuclear weapons in response to the threat posed even with conventional weapons by not nuclear state supported by some nuclear power. The strikes on an ammo depot are unlikely to provoke a harsh response of the Russian military but they will definately lead to another series of devastating massive strikes on the Ukrainian rear infrastructure.
