Excerpt taken from the upcoming debut album “Hädanefter“, scheduled for release on May 7th. Jordfäst envelopes the melancholy and rawness of Scandinavia. Members of the band have their roots in the dark forests of Småland, Sweden, but the branches stretch all the way from the endless fields of Scania in the south to the icy mountains of Tromsø in Northern Norway. The music stems from black metal soil and its canopy covers everything from the melodic and atmospheric to the harsh and brutal. Jordfäst is an old Swedish word for being buried, loosely translated to ”attached to soil”. In their songs, they unearth the grim past of the Scandinavian peninsula, channeling the long-forgotten cries of people that once lived. The lyrical themes focus on the meagerness of mankind when faced with the forces of nature and how humans tend to become the very evil that they are trying to fight.
