The very last Juilliard String Quartet concert of Robert Mann took place at Tanglewood on July 2nd, 1997. His 51 years as first violinist spanned a career that profoundly influenced and changed the landscape of chamber music. While the entire concert was not filmed, we have this clip from the encore, dedicated to his wife Lucy Mann. The film “Bowing Out” directed by Alan Miller chronicled the last few days leading up to and including part of the concert.
