Recently there’s been a bit of controversy involving cursed cat alastor of all things. I’ll break it down. So most people are aware of the cursed cat alastor meme which went viral in the fandom over a month ago. One artist made a kickstarter campaign to sell some enamel pins of cat alastor and vox. The original artist of cat alastor, coma 0423 made a quote retweet expressing their displeasure because the cat is only for personal use and asking them to stop selling it. The artist clapped back saying they didn’t know who they were and said coma should’ve dmed them first. People mentioned that the artist should’ve done their research and asked coma for permission first, and this led to the artist taking the kickstarter down and apologising. There’s also a ton of knockoff cat alastor merch being sold on sites like etsy with no credit given. Overall its a really confusing situation. Vivzie has said that it’s fine to sell fan merch of the shows in the past, but obviously it’s a bit confusing when it involves fan characters.
