Quinta Brunson pulled off the rare hat trick of landing nominations for comedy series, comedy writing, and lead actress in a comedy. In winning writing for a comedy series, she became only the second Black woman in television history to be honored in this category, after Lena Waithe (in 2017 for “Master of None.”) “Abbott” also picked up a trophy this year during the Creative Arts Emmys, for outstanding casting in a comedy.
