The Berlin-based outfit GOLDEN APES has been known as a shimmering gem in the independent wave- and post punk-scene. Powerful picture language and surrealistic items are basic parts of GOLDEN APES’ artistic appearance, musically lead by charismatic lead singer Peer Lebrecht’s poetic and dark-melancholic lyrics, sustained by catchy but complex arrangements including beautiful melodies and astonishing twists. The Band has always admitted itself to the significant artists of the scene the members grew up with, from time to time-listening carefully-you can find familiar sounds from bands like Joy Division, The Cure, Sisters Of Mercy, Bauhaus or Psychedelic Furs in GOLDEN APES’ music.
