Myanmar's coup leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing took part in an online video conference with other ASEAN defence chiefs on Thursday, his first international engagement since seizing power, state-run television showed. Meanwhile, protesters against the military coup came under fire from police on Wednesday in Yangon's Hlaing Township. Video obtained by Reuters showed bottles, some lit, being launched by a group of protesters over a makeshift barrier, as live fire can be heard. Security forces also torched protesters' barricades, detaining 20 people, the Irrawaddy and Myanmar Now news portal reported. There was no word on casualties.
