Four musicians arrive from the city to a remote village to rest while practicing their art. They live in a family where three generations live together. The young girl of the house falls in love with one of them. “The idea of Pastorale came to me like this: I thought that there are people who have an “artist“ psychology and everyone thinks that it’s very good, this “bohemian“ mentality, of free man. I therefore wanted to analyze this by illustrating it through daily life, by comparing members of the intelligentsia and peasants. For me, it’s the same thing: if you want to be a professional, you have to lose a big part of your soul. This is true for the peasant as for the artist; This is true for the farmer who must follow all the rules of a good farmer: think about tomorrow, take care of the crops, his family, plan savings, etc. Same thing for the artist. (...) At the intersection of these two worlds, I placed a young peasant girl. She will become someone, she will have to choose, but during the film she is in an open situation. The family where she lives, of which she is a part, is very good for her, but on the other hand the musicians are very beautiful in her eyes.
