Inspired by true events. Buford Pusser (Here fantastically played by Joe Don Baker in the part of his life) is a wrestler and a former marine, who decides to settle down with his wife, so they go to his home town in Tennessee, where he plans to get into business with his father. But Buford is shocked to discover all sorts of crime and corruption going on in the town and when he is a victim of it himself he decides to strike back by running against the corrupt sheriff and the Southern Dixie mafia. He wins and wages war against them but the prize will be high.... Followed by two sequels, a TV show and a remake.
