I had the incredible opportunity to chat with Tom Shippey, distinguished medievalist and Tolkien scholar, about his new translation of Beowulf, edited by Leonard Neidorf. We discuss Tolkien’s relationship with the Old English poem as well as themes from it and some of the linguistic choices that Shippey made as a translator.
