Chilean club Palestino qualified to Group 5 of the Copa Libertadores despite losing 2-1 to Nacional of Uruguay. Palestino had won the first leg 1-0 in Santiago. With stands empty owing to a sanction to Nacional, the ’Arab’ team opened the scoring after 38 minutes through Renato Ramos, while a Germán Lanzaro own-goal (42) and a Gaston Pereiro (44) strike were the goals for Nacional. The Chileans, who returned to the Libertadores after a 36 year absence, struck at the right time and endured the fight back of the Apertura champions of Uruguayan football. Palestino is now in Group 5 with Boca Juniors of Argentina, Venezuela’s Zamora and Uruguay’s Wanderers. Text and photo: AFP Edition: - See more at: #
