Probably one of the lesser known work of Mrio Vargas Llosa, this book is a work of historical fiction. Its centered around an obscure civil unrest that occurred in the backlands of Bahia, Brazil, in which around 30000 wretched, miserably poor people set up an religious establishment, inspired by preacher known as the counselor. Tragic, violent and vast, this sprawling tale is not for the faint hearted. Also, most of the information found in this book are true. Recommended for serious and patient readers with an affinity for historical fictions. Like share and subscribe.
