Today's interlude is another short drama sponsored by the Ministry of Information. In 1940 there was a real threat of the Nazis invading Britain and the government encouraged people to “stay alert“ to this possibility. Films such as “Miss Grant goes to the door“ were shown to get this message across, and to reinforce a lot of other points - the need to go the shelter during an air raid, and the need to immoblize private cars etc. This short film was released as part of a dvd compilation of wartime propaganda “The Home Guard“ in 2006, but this now appears to be out of print. This copy was taken from a broadcast on C4 in 1985 when it was shown as part of their “Britain at War“ film season. I'll be removing the film in a week's time, so please view soon if you would like to view it.
