“Rumour Has It“ is een nummer van de Amerikaanse zangeres Donna Summer, uitgebracht in 1978. Het was een bescheiden hit, met een piek op 53 in de Hot 100 en 1 in de Hot Disco Chart in de VS en 19 in het VK. en 20 in Nederland. Het nummer stond oorspronkelijk op Summer's Once Upon a Time-album, een conceptalbum dat het “sprookjesachtige“ verhaal vertelt van de avonturen van een meisje terwijl ze van vodden naar rijkdom gaat. Dit nummer vind je tegen het einde van het album, wanneer de hoofdpersoon hoort dat iemand “op zoek is naar een meisje zoals ik“ en hoopt dat de man in kwestie iemand is die ze al een tijdje leuk vindt. Een van de verzen in de originele versie is uitgegeven voor het 7“-formaat. Het is een van de eerste voorbeelden van disco, funk, rock en elektronica in de popcultuur. Dit was de tweede grote hit in Groot-Brittannië van haar Once Upon Een Time-album, dat het meest opvalt vanwege de elektronische suite op kant 2, dat punkrockartiesten beïnvloedde bij de ontwikkeling van de new wave-beweging van de jaren tachtig. ============== “Rumour Has It“ is a song by the American singer Donna Summer, released in 1978. One of the verses in the original version was edited out for the 7“ format. It is one of the earliest examples of disco, funk, rock, and electronica in pop culture. This was the second big hit in the UK from her Once Upon A Time album, which is most notable for its electronic suite on side 2, that influenced punk rock artists in the development of the 1980s new wave movement.
