Hey Doc, what are these bony bumps

This video explores bony growths or outcroppings called tori (torus is the singular) which can be found on the hard palate/roof of the mouth, and on the tongue side of the lower teeth (usually between the canines and molars). These are normal and can be found in about 33% of people, depending which study you examine. They usually grow slowly over time, and are thought to possibly be the bone’s reaction to clenching and grinding. While tori are benign, if you notice any unusual growth, by all means contact your dentist and have it examined thoroughly.
