There was something strangely dreamlike about walking to this nearby city beach as the New Zealand lockdown begins during the Covid-19 pandemic. Perhaps it was the silence of a city with less cars humming in the background or the shared experience in the eyes of smiling strangers we passed at a safe distance. It was also a little heartbreaking to see my girl so grown up already and wondering what does the future hold for her. I'm an optimist and believe humanity will take positive lessons from all this but change always comes with a tinge of sadness to say goodbye to each day knowing things will never be the same again.
