After siblings group The Sylvers had enjoyed 3 big hits in the US with Boogie Fever, Hot Line, and High School Dance in the mid-70s, all produced by Freddie Perren, they took creative control with their self-produced New Horizons in 1977, unfortunately only to see the hit singles dry up. For their follow-up album, Leon F. Sylvers, III, left the group as a performer to focus on the song-writing and production only. When Forever Yours was finished, Capitol Records turned it down. Their manager Al Ross signed the album to Casablanca Records, by that time America's leading disco-label and home to the likes of Donna Summer, Village People, Kiss, and Parliament. While the lead single Don't Stop, Get Off peaked at #15 on the R&B singles charts, it didn't cross over to the pop charts. The beautiful title track followed as the next single in November, but unfortunately failed to become a hit. The album peaked at #132 Pop/#40 R&B.
