Capybaras are exceptionally intelligent, at least as intelligent as the most intelligent dogs. They are emotionally very sophisticated. You should never leave a capybara alone. If you have to go out to work then please don't get a capybara. And if you want to become famous please don't choose a capybara as the vehicle by which you seek fame and celebrity. If you have the intelligence, time, sensitivity and dedication to building a relationship with them they are incredibly rewarding company. However you should remember that they are herd animals and get very distressed if left on their own. Most people should not even consider having one as a pet!
