Despite facing twelve brutal assaults and enduring harsh conditions, including hunger and exhaustion, they held their ground with unwavering courage. In the end, Idig and all of his men perished, succumbing to starvation and overwhelming odds. However, their resistance was so fierce and costly for the Mongols that despite the victory it discouraged further attempts to conquer the land of Chechens. This heroic last stand, though it ended in the death of every defender, became a symbol of resilience and sacrifice, laying the foundation for the emerging national identity of their people.
