Now we don’t know if the young British reveller in this clip had had any wine or not, but he certainly told some hard truths about the British, and in a most amusing away. Asked if British people have culture, he was categorical: no, they don’t. Instead, he claims, all they’ve done is steal other people’s culture. Now while we might not agree that Brits have absolutely no culture of their own at all, he’s bang on when he says the Brits have a tradition of appropriating other cultures. Why else, as this man asks, is his country’s national dish chicken tikka masala? And let’s not forget the Benin bronzes from Nigeria, the Great Star of Africa diamond from South Africa, the Maqdala treasures from Ethiopia - the list goes on.
