The story of Elijah holds a very important key for the people of God in the last days Mal 4:5-6 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: (6) And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. What is the meaning of the still small voice at Sinai for Elijah? Why was God not in the fire, wind and earthquake? Why did Elijah and John the Baptist both have a giant struggle in their faith to where they both nearly lost their way? Elijah asked to die and John questioned if Jesus was even the Messiah. And why did Jesus rebuke His disciples for wanting to bring fire down on unbelievers. Instead of saying it is not the right time - Jesus says Luke 9:55-56 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. (56) For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. ... Jesus doesn't come to destroy but to save.
