Performance 7 July 2018. They hail from Lomé, Togo's capital city, right in the heart where the West African pop music flourished: The highlife from Accra, the voodoo funk of Orchestre Poly-Rythmo from Cotonou, and the afrobeat of the legendary Fela Kuti from Lagos. Within this environment, the Togo All Stars created their electrifying unique style, a style wherein voodoo plays a prominent role. While presenting their debut album, they will be dressed for the occasion in full regalia, led by their main vocalist together with plenty of percussion and an impressive brass section. It is jazz, it is pop, it is afrobeat, highlife, funk and also voodoo. Voodoo is a West African religion that arrived in America with the slave trade. Subsequently banned, it found solace & refuge in the music. Togo All Stars praise these Gods with their music in which traces can be found of jazz, blues, salsa & samba.
